Our Schools and Projects Examples! Links may no longer work!

This section is in two parts: First, our schools and their initial entries and project ideas! In summary, across the schools we have (1) Used the SECOP safe and secure videoconferencing to communicate and collaborate with South Africa (2) Undertaken one teach-in to coach in presentation skills and team-working (3) Demonstrated the potential for (excellent) content re-use both from existing and new community partners. Below this, we offer five project examples from our other Communities of Practice. The idea is that our SECOP schools will gradually and and/or replace this content with their own...and it's already starting to happen!

Schools

And here are our schools! Selected by, and with notes from our SEEDA champions, you will observe already a fascinating mix of complementary expertise with very different types of schools and links with corporate and other organisations. Click on the links to find out more!

claudia_et_alPortchester School are the first to use our ultrasafe SECOP videoconferencing school-to-school with South Africa as reported on their school WEB site! Portchester are one of only two secondary schools in Britain to have been awarded Unicef's prestigious "Rights Respecting School" accreditation.  This was awarded in recognition of the ethos of the school where all students are expected to subscribe to our agenda of respect for others' opinions, cultures and points of view. See their terrific initial project entry "Rights Respecting Way" where they have text, images and videos! See also their school WEB site for students performing in front of Desmond  Tutu!

Newick House School - a Special School for children with learning difficulties - has fabulous content from their ongoing international links with seven countries! Newick is part of the Connecting Classrooms scheme through the British Council. It is currently working towards full International Award status (and already has intermediate). Newick gives us a great opportunity to capture requirements for special needs both UK and indeed global!

Chalfonts have pioneered VLE (virtual learning environments) work in Buckinghamshire and also have made fascinating novel use of tools such as Adobe Connect and Photoshop Tennis. They enjoy a number of international connections with schools and corporates and have a strong international dimension.

Priory School are the first SECOP school to have a 'teach-in, and they were due to videoconference with Katha, India on July 7th! but the Katha Internet went down! So the children cheered me up with some wonderful Bollywood dancing! Priory have extensive international and business links, they are one of the two CP Schools of Creativity in the South East: They have absolutely beautiful wall displays which you can see on their WEB site!

Project Exampes

Here we offer four project examples from our other Communities of Practice. These projects either started from scratch or built on already existing relationships, by offering a richer communications layer. SECOP schools can join these activities (you will be made VERY welcome!) or use the ideas to create and enhance your own projects.

Essex - Jiangsu features 40 schools and perhaps 40,000 pupils in a competiiton with legacy activity; Rythm N' Beans is a wonderful example of Dance - and creating and communicating and collaborating expert user generated content; iCOOK shows just how sustainable and profound a legacy can be...and Take One Tune is lovely global music...being passed around the world! (nb Click on the pictures below to go to the projects!)

This is a Compete athletics event for Essex and Jiangsu students! See how we help them Communicate and Collaborate in some truly wonderful videos:essex_-_jiangsu_logo.jpg!

Rythm N' Beans took Irene from Buhumba School, Uganda to teach Suffolk schoolchildren to REALLY dance! and the legacy is a fabulous example of re-usable user generated content which they are happy to share! NB Worth the wait to see the videos!
iCOOK is a beautiful cross cultural comparison WEB site. We could never imagine how this could evolve to electricity, IT room...and videoconferencing between the two schools! icook.pngBut take a look at the simple, beautiful site absolutely packed with fascinating content such as shopping in a Kudawella market, and the Alfie stirfry video!

tothandsharmony.jpgGorseland School and local Kesgrave High School have created a lovely global music project and welcome partners! The sheer quality of the original tune is testament to the work between a very talented primary WEB Designer/educator and a real expert musician. It may remind older folk of another tune! NB Worth the wait to hear the music!
